About Alex
Guitarist, composer.
Alex Heffron is a guitarist and composer based in Brooklyn, New York. His performance credits include Veronica Swift, Ernie Watts, Big Gigantic, Adam Deitch, Remy Le Boeuf, and the Colorado Symphony.
His performance work has also included the Kennedy Center and NPR’s Tiny Desk. Alex leads his own group, writing original music that draws from both the tradition and contemporary directions in jazz.
He has released two albums under his own name, Looking Out and Avoidance, and was selected for KUVO Jazz’s 30 Under 30 initiative.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Guitar from the University of Colorado Boulder.
The lesson

Alex has more than 12 years of teaching experience, working with beginners through advanced musicians across jazz, classical, rock, and pop.
Before moving to New York, he spent five years as a guest artist in the guitar department at Denver School of the Arts, teaching individual lessons and masterclasses and working with students on technique, improvisation, theory, ear training, and ensemble playing.
Alex has also taught at Kent Denver and Dawson School, coached adult and youth ensembles through the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts, and developed jazz guitar classes for Gift of Jazz.
At WillYouLearn, Alex teaches both guitar and piano, bringing that broad musical background into the music each student is actually working on.
