Jaz Koft - Piano, Voice, Percussion
Jaz Koft (he/him) is a New York City–based pianist, music director, songwriter, and actor who brings warmth, versatility, and real performance experience to every lesson. Originally from Rochester, NY, he began his musical journey as a classical percussionist and jazz drummer before moving to piano, a shift that gave him a deep understanding of rhythm, sound, and expression. He went on to earn his BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in Music from CAP21/Molloy University, a program known for producing some of the city’s most exciting young performers. Families searching for kids piano lessons in NYC or a teacher who understands both classical and contemporary styles will find Jaz
to be a wonderful fit.
As both a teacher and working musician, Jaz connects with students by blending strong fundamentals with the music they love most. He has worked on professional productions including Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus: The Musical! with the Weston Theater Company, White Christmas, The Selkie Bride at Madison Theatre, and the annual Iconis Christmas Extravaganza at 54 Below. His love of musical theatre, pop, rock, and jazz gives him a wide palette to draw from, and his recent explorations with synthesizers and guitar show his curiosity never stops. Parents appreciate Jaz’s ability to make lessons fun and inspiring while also building the skills, confidence, and creativity that help kids thrive. Whether your child is a beginner just starting out or an older student looking for private piano lessons in NYC, Jaz creates a supportive environment where music feels exciting, personal, and full of possibility.
