About
WillYouLearn offers one-on-one lessons in the convenience of your own home. Our goal is to nurture our student’s individual artistic strengths and interests through consistent weekly lessons and by complementing the traditional fundamentals of music education with our unique approach that puts listening at the center.
WillYouLearn lessons encompass sight reading, song writing, music theory, ear training, improvisation and more. Lesson content spans musical genres from classical to rock to country to jazz and everything in-between. We encourage students to learn to play the music that motivates them, while at the same time we teach them the skills they need to explore any genre.

Policies and Procedures
Scheduling
WillYouLearn has a variety of offerings to suit your needs. We offer two semesters each year, as well as a la carte lessons and various workshops. Student's have the option to enroll for in-person lessons or remote.
Fall and Spring Semesters
The Fall and Spring Semesters consist of 18 consecutive weeks each excluding holiday breaks. This includes 16 weeks of lessons followed by a two week make-up period. Student's are welcomed to enroll anytime throughout the semester.
Enrollment
Each new student is offered a complimentary consultation to match you with the right teacher. Our faculty’s schedule is filled on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis and fill up very quickly. Current student’s renew automatically at their established day and time from semester to semester and will have an exclusive period each June and November in which to submit requests for changes.
New students may enter anytime during the semester. New student registration continues until the program is booked to capacity.
If you miss the start of the semester, we encourage you to call or email to see what availability remains.
Billing
Tuition is due by the date specified on your invoice. Established students receive invoices in November and June for the next semester and may hold their spot with a tuition deposit. Tuition deposits are refundable up to four weeks before the start of the new semester. New students receive invoices upon registration. Accounts more than 30 days in arrears are charged a 6% late fee. We reserve the right to cancel lessons due to delinquent payments at which point any outstanding balances and fees must be paid. Tuition information can be found on our FAQ page.
Withdrawals and Refund Policy
Any new student can withdraw from the program during the first three weeks of their start date. Should you choose to withdraw within this three-week period, you will receive a refund minus the prorated charge for your lessons to date. After this three week period students must fulfill their commitment for the semester. Please note that withdrawal from the program after three weeks but prior to the end of the semester requires full payment.
Established students must give a minimum of one month’s written notice prior to the start of a new semester if they wish to discontinue. Those who withdraw with less than four weeks notice are required to pay a charge equal to your first month of lessons.
Student Cancelations
Students are granted up to two absences each semester which are eligible for a make-up lesson. Make-up lessons are held during the two week make-up period at the end of each semester. If for any reason, including illness, a student cancels more than twice, additional make-up credit will not be offered. Lessons cancelled without 24 hours notice are not eligible for make-up or rescheduling.
Make-up Period
Each semester ends with two weeks of designated make-up days. Make-up lessons take place on your regularly scheduled day and time unless otherwise arranged. If a student cancels a make-up lesson, another will not be offered. In addition to the make-up session that concludes each semester, we will occasionally schedule make-ups during the semester. Mid-session make-up lessons are entirely dependent upon mutual availability.
Lesson Cancellation Procedures
All lesson cancelations must be done via our student portal page. Simply login and click on the lesson you wish to cancel. While clients are welcomed to mention cancelations in person to your teachers we ask that you still use the portal to ensure proper communication and avoid any confusion. Lessons not cancelled in accordance with these procedures may not be eligible for a make-up credit.
Teacher Absences
While rare, our teacher’s may occasionally cancel a lesson. When available, we will provide a substitute with another outstanding faculty member. When a substitute is not available the lesson will be rescheduled. Families will always be informed via email of a substitute.
Recital
Held on a weekend in mid-June, our annual spring recital is the highlight of the year. Though participation is optional, we encourage all of our students to attend. It’s a chance for the students to share their progress with parents and peers, obtain performance experience and gain inspiration and encouragement. When in-person recital's are not possible we provide a unparalleled virtual recital. Click here to watch the live stream of our 2018 recital.
Adult Supervision
An adult is required to be in the home during the duration of each lesson for all students under the age of 18. If a teacher should arrive or sign into to a lesson and no adult is present the teacher will not enter the home. No make-up credit will be issued and the lesson will not be rescheduled.
Punctuality
WillYouLearn’s faculty has a reputation for reliability and punctuality. However, because we rely mostly on public transportation for in-person lessons start time can sometimes vary by several minutes. Teachers will inform clients if they are running more than a few minutes behind schedule. Regardless of these slight variations, all lessons will total 60 minutes from the time the instructor enters your home.
If the teacher arrives or signs in for a lesson and the student is not home, the teacher will wait for 15 minutes past the start of the scheduled lesson time. After 15 minutes, the teacher will leave and no make-up credit will be granted. Lessons will end at the scheduled time regardless of what time the student arrives.
Health and Safety
If a teacher arrives for a lesson and a student is contagiously ill, the teacher may choose to leave the home. In such a case, no credit will be issued for the missed lesson.
The health and safety of our students is of primary concern. For their health and safety a parent or guardian must always be immediately accessible in the event of an emergency. No teacher shall be asked to engage in any duty or responsibility outside of their skill set as a music teacher. This includes but is not limited to accompanying students from any location to another.
Occasionally an event may occur which prohibits lessons from being taught in person. Events include, but aren’t limited to, illness, injury, severe weather, natural disaster, or public health concerns. In such an event, no refunds will be offered but lessons will be taught virtually.
If a student or any member of a household has possible covid-19 exposure any in-person lesson during the isolation period must be canceled.
