Our faculty
Finding a good music teacher is hard. We know good ones.
Many families find us through another parent. They refer WYL, not just one teacher, because they trust us to know who we recommend and who might be right for their family.
We know our teachers.
Will met Joe on a recording session, got to know Alex playing gigs, and Emily sang at Will’s wedding. NYU ties run through the faculty, and teachers refer colleagues who already understand what WYL is about.
We interview far more teachers than we hire. Great musicianship matters, but so do judgment, communication, curiosity, and the ability to connect. A wonderful teacher can still be wrong for a particular student. Knowing the teacher is what lets us make the match.

Beyond the roster
A close network goes further than a directory.
WYL has a core faculty of roughly 20 teachers. Beyond that is a close network of musicians and educators we’ve played with, studied with, taught alongside, or met through people we already trust.
If the right fit isn’t on the regular roster, we often know who to call. Teachers bring us colleagues. Musical communities overlap. Relationships built through gigs, schools, studios, and years in New York matter here.
This page is a window into the faculty, not a complete directory. The goal isn’t to make you sort through every available teacher. It’s to help find the right one.
Get matched
You don’t need to pick from a directory.
Tell us about the student, what they want to learn, where you are, and what kind of teacher you’re hoping for. Will reviews every inquiry and helps guide the match from the first conversation onward.
